Watch: Power Outage Turns Thrilling Ride Into 60-Minute Nightmare For Visitors
The affected ride, known for spinning participants at a significant height, came to an abrupt halt, leaving patrons temporarily marooned in the darkness.

An amusement park in Guayaquil, Ecuador, was thrust into chaos on the evening of January 4, as a sudden power outage left park-goers stranded on a high-altitude mechanical ride. The incident unfolded at a time when the park was teeming with visitors, intensifying the distressing scenario for those caught in the blackout.

Euro ES Euro reported that at least 20 people found themselves trapped in a mechanical ride, suspended in the air for an hour due to the unexpected power failure. The affected ride, known for spinning participants at a significant height, came to an abrupt halt, leaving patrons temporarily marooned in the darkness. The blackout triggered a swift surge of concern among the crowd, adding to the unsettling atmosphere of the situation.

BNN Breaking revealed that approximately an hour into the ordeal, emergency personnel managed to reach the stranded riders, even as the park remained shrouded in darkness. Their strategic planning and rapid response were pivotal in ensuring the safe extraction of those trapped on the high-altitude mechanical ride. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Amusement park ride malfunctions are, unfortunately, not uncommon occurrences. In an earlier incident reported, a joyful rollercoaster experience turned into a distressing ordeal for eight riders, including an 8-year-old girl, who found themselves stuck at the pinnacle of a 72-foot-high rollercoaster at an amusement park in the United Kingdom.

According to SkyNews, the unsettling incident unfolded at the Adventure Island theme park in Southend, Essex. The riders were left stranded on the ride, suspended vertically for approximately 40 minutes before officials intervened to rescue and safely bring them back to the ground.

The malfunction occurred at the highest point of the ride, which had been marketed as Adventure Island’s “biggest and best” rollercoaster, boasting “loops, twists, and flat-out speeds.” The unexpected stall led to a temporary suspension of the thrill, leaving riders in a precarious situation at the ride’s apex.

Marc Miller, the managing director of the Stockvale Group, which has been running Adventure Island, was quoted by WION stating, “Just after 2 pm today, a carriage on Rage stopped on the lift.”
