The US celebrates National Teacher Appreciation Week during the first week of May and teachers receive tokens of appreciation from their students during this time. Some major brands like Adidas and Samsung even offer exclusive discounts to educators. While most teachers get a variety of gifts in the form of clothes, apparel, gadgets and many more, this year, one teacher has been left baffled as they got a push to start end-of-life planning. In a viral clip shared on TikTok, a user shared the contents of a gift bag sent by the local church in which there was a 10 per cent discount for cremation services.

The teacher, named Erin, shared that she received the goodie bag from a local church. Inside, she found a plastic water bottle, a stress ball, a small notebook, a tube of chapstick, a matching lanyard, a key chain, a Nutrigrain bar, two pens, spray hand sanitiser and a cherry. Additionally, the bag included a lollipop and an invitation to pray at the church.

However, the goodie bag also contained a coupon for a discount for cremation services. On TikTok, sharing the coupon with users, Erin wondered aloud whether the church thought that she would pass away anytime soon. She also jested that she had no intention of dying anytime soon.

“To top it all, my personal favourite, Weaver and Peaks Memorial Funeral Care hand sanitiser and a business card advertising 10% off cremation services. Happy teacher appreciation week to me,” the teacher joked as she showed off her discount coupon to her followers.”

Users were also left puzzled by the strange Teacher Appreciation Week gift with one saying it was a creepy move on part of the church. Another person added, “Last year, our principal gave us Stanley tumblers. It was the best Teacher Appreciation gift I had received in 24 years. This year, the district explicitly forbade giving tumblers.”
