Microblogging platform X, previously known as Twitter, encountered a technical glitch on Thursday morning, as it displayed ‘Welcome to your timeline’ instead of the usual tweets. The platform was inaccessible for most users around the world. Upon restoration after nearly an hour, several users claimed their tweets were temporarily deleted, while some discovered that their pinned tweets were automatically unpinned. In response, people flooded the microblogging platform to express their experiences during this outage. While some expressed concerns about facing similar issues, others decided to take a humorous route by sharing hilarious memes.
Similarly, in the past, the platform has faced multiple outages, impacting users’ ability to access links, images and videos. Several people reported difficulties using the platform.

As per Downdetector, over 70,000 reports surfaced regarding the microblogging site X’ inaccessibility. Presently, the cause behind this issue remains undisclosed. On the other hand, certain users claimed that they could view advertisements and their personal tweets on their profiles. However, users were unable to search for specific profiles and the posts associated with other profiles failed to display.
Meanwhile, the outage graph on Downdetector showed a surge in reports at approximately 12 pm. Among the reported issues, 28% faced problems with the website, 65% with the app and 7% faced server connection difficulties. Major Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai, experienced severe disruptions. In contrast, smaller cities like Jaipur, Patna, Chandigarh and others faced fewer reported problems during this outage period.
Last year, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk acquired the microblogging platform and renamed it X after taking over from the original founder, Jack Dorsey. Following this transition, Musk made major changes by dismissing numerous high-ranking executives, including former CEO Parag Agrawal. Under Musk’s leadership, various changes were introduced and company’s workforce was reduced, while half of the employees were laid off. In response, hundreds of employees resigned from the company after Musk urged them to follow extremely hardcore work environment.
