Embracing motherhood is one of the most beautiful phases in the lives of many women. It is, however, quite stressful as well. As per Daily Star News, a homemaker from Tampa Florida, United States, Raquel Tolver, is going through a similar situation. Raquel is the mother to five children and washes 32 bottles, changes around 30 nappies, and does four loads of laundry. every day.
Raquel, 33 became pregnant with quadruplets (four children or offspring born of one pregnancy) in October 2022. Her children – Bryson, Amaya, Royce, and Denzel – were born on March 23, 2023. These babies had to spend several months in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) at Tampa General Hospital, Florida. They could be brought home only when they gathered enough strength at the NICU. Now, Raquel has to take care for these 4 babies as well as her fifth child, a toddler named Dreyson. Darius, Raquel’s husband has a full-time job in the IT sector.
In an interaction with Daily Star News, Raquel talked about her ordeal. She said, “I don’t get much help because we don’t have a lot of family. With the babies, I line them all up and change them all at the same time, and feed them lined up too.”
It was not an easy task for Raquel to conceive due to medical problems. Raquel found out she had polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in 2019. At that time, she was trying to conceive her first child who was born in July 2020 (Dreyson). She was given only a 10 per cent chance of becoming pregnant again after doctors discovered a cyst blocking her ovary in September 2022.
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges. Raquel tried for 18 months to embrace motherhood and was ultimately overjoyed to find out she was expecting. Raquel, however, had no idea she was carrying quadruplets. As the babies grow and become more active, Raquel is thinking about getting some extra help at home.
