Someone In Kolkata Ordered 125 Rumali Rotis At New Year Party; Zomato CEO reacts
Deepinder Goyal, the CEO of food delivery platform Zomato, expressed his desire to visit Kolkata after noticing an odd food order.

While many people went out to celebrate New Year’s Eve, others stayed at home and celebrated by ordering food using Swiggy and Zomato. Amongst the multiple orders placed on Zomato, one particular order caught the eye of Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal. On December 31, Goyal posted on X, “Really want to attend the party in Kolkata – where someone just ordered 125 items in a single order”. Someone asked Goyal how many delivery agents would be required to deliver the said order, Goyal replied that just one delivery person was enough because all 125 orders were for rumali roti.

Commenting on Goyal’s post, an X user wondered, “What a pain that would have been clicking + button 125 times.” Another person remarked, “With 125 items ordered, it’s not just a celebration; it’s a culinary marathon. Time to boogie and binge!”

Taking a more somber tone, an X user asked, “That brings a question “Do you have some empathy for Delivery Person that he can carry only this much weight at one time? Do you allocate extra drivers in case it exceeds more than specified limit?”

One person took Goyal’s post, as an opportunity to complain about Zomato’s delayed service and wrote, “Can you show some excitement to also problems for customers who are awaiting their order delivery for like more than an hour now ?? Or did u catch thay flight to Kol already?”

This is not the only odd order that created a buzz on social media today. Back in November, when team India played the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Final against Australia at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, a fan ordered 51 coconuts from Swiggy in an attempt to orchestrate a win for team India through some superstitious ritual.

Swiggy posted about this order on X and wrote, “Someone from Thane just ordered 51 nariyals!!! if it’s for finals, the World Cup is coming home for real.”

An hour later, an X user reshared this post and wrote, “Haan bhai yeh someone from thane bhi main hi hoon, 51 nariyal for unreal manifestation (Yes, I am that someone from Thane. 51 coconuts for unreal manifestation).” The cricket fan also attached a photo that showed coconuts stacked on a steel plate, with the live match running in the background.

Unfortunately, despite these shenanigans and manifestations India lost to Australia by six wickets in the final, breaking hearts of millions of fans around the country.
