It is situated on the Isle of Wight, and is famous for its colourful cliffs formed by chalk stacks.

When people plan a trip, they usually consider a road trip or think about a sea route. While most beaches are easy to reach by road, there’s an interesting exception. A popular beach, known for its beautiful views, is special because visitors can get there using a chairlift or rope.

A beach in the UK is becoming well-known for its unique way to reach– a chairlift providing stunning views. Alum Bay, situated on the Isle of Wight, is famous for its colourful cliffs formed by chalk stacks.

Diverse fish species are easily visible in the shallow waters, drawing families who have an interest in observing marine life. The prominent feature of this beach is the Needles Chairlift, a system resembling a ropeway that efficiently transports tourists up the hills and back down.

The expansive pebble beach is frequently acclaimed as one of the island’s most picturesque spots. Families love its crystal-clear blue waters, perfect for observing fish and sea life. The beach includes a shallow area, ideal for paddling. Notably, the Needles chairlift marked its 50th anniversary last year. Since its launch in 1973, it has transported more than 14 million people, offering breathtaking views throughout the journey.

Nearby, there’s a tea room and various shops, including the Sand Shop, where visitors can fill a bottle with uniquely shaped Alum Bay sands. Directly taking sand from the beach is prohibited due to the area being a West High Down Site of Special Scientific Interest. Remaining on the clifftops, visitors can reach the amusement park, featuring attractions like the Carousel, tea cups, and crazy golf. The park is open during the summer months, from April to October.

This beach provides a distinctive experience, allowing visitors to take a 10-minute ride on the chairlift, offering expansive views over a considerable distance. The chairlift facility is the main highlight of this beach. For an exploration of the Needle Landmark, the cost is under Rs 500. Additionally, accessing the beach from Needles Rocks and Lighthouse is another option, with the cost ranging from Rs 550 to 850.
