North Korea continues to be surrounded by umpteen mysteries, making people even more curious about how things unfold behind the veil of the great propaganda machine there. A video, now going viral, seems to be giving a glimpse of the suspicious things in the country.
Believed to be an old video, the clip captures a group of journalists visiting a computer lab in North Korea. In the video, the students are seen sitting idly in the lab in utter silence with little to no activity.
Going by the video, it seems like the entire environment was merely staged for the visitors rather than showing an original scenario where students actually have access to the internet.

The video also shows the narrator explaining the situation where the journalists were taken to the computer lab to show the students were using the internet. “Next, they took us to a computer lab where students were using the internet. And your first thought is: OK, this looks like any lab at a university back home. But then it dawns on you that it’s completely silent. No one is doing anything; there is no typing, no mouse clicking, nothing. We saw one guy looking at the Google homepage, but he wasn’t searching for anything. He was just staring blankly at the screen,” the narrator says. The journalist also spoke to one of the students.
The video instantly went viral, sparking a wide range of reactions from users. One wrote, “He must have been so scared. Poor dude,” while another commented, “Google search on a word document.” Another person joked, “The guy who was staring at the Google homepage, is me at work in the morning.”
A user commented, “My school whenever someone from outside comes for inspection.”
Originally surfaced in 2013, the video clip was featured in The Hermit Kingdom episode of the Vice documentary series. In it, Vice journalists paid a visit to a computer lab in North Korea.
