A woman, who was involved in a heated confrontation over an iPhone charger on a JetBlue flight, has reacted after being brutally shamed online. Vanessa, who identified herself as the woman in the viral video, has opened up about the incident, saying she received death threats after the altercation was shared on TikTok, Daily Mail reported.
In a video, she claimed she picked up the charger from the ground and was going to return it but was accused of stealing it.
Daily Mail shared a video, along with a detailed caption, that read, “Vanessa identified herself as the woman in the now-viral footage, revealing she’d received death threats after the altercation was ‘taken out of context’ and shared on TikTok.”
Take a look at her video here:
“This charger was found on the ground of an empty flight where we were told to remove all possessions because we didn’t know if we were getting back on the same flight due to technical issues,” she said.
In the video, Vanessa acknowledged that she could have acted more gracefully, citing stress, exhaustion, and worry about her cat as contributing factors. “But I was really stressed out, exhausted, worried about my cat, out of breath… eight hours at the airport only to be recorded and yelled at,” she explained.
As the video went viral, it prompted several users to post comments. However, most social media users remain unconvinced by her explanation of the incident. “Someone literally witnessed you unplug it,” a user wrote. Another said, “I love how she tries to throw it back on him, asking for patience and kindness. Don’t take stuff that doesn’t belong to you and nobody will be mean and impatient with you.”
“Not your charger, give it back, simple,” read another comment. “She should have given it to a flight attendant. Problem solved,” said another person.
The incident came to light when the man whose charger was taken shared a video of the confrontation on TikTok. Reportedly, the flight crew offered to call authorities, but the man declined, citing concerns about further delaying the already-delayed flight. The woman grabbed the gadget when the pilot allowed passengers to deplane and get some lunch after the aircraft was delayed three times.
Reportedly, the incident occurred a year ago, and she wasn’t going to issue a statement, but now the situation has since blown out of proportion after the man’s video went viral.
