In yet another dramatic slogfest at the Australian Open semi-finals, Daniil Medvedev reigned supreme over Alexander Zverev in a five-set classic comeback for the ages that went down to the wire, to book their place in the Australian Open final.
Medvedev weathered a two-set deficit to come back from the dead and clinch the win 5-7, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-3 in a battle that lasted 4 hours and 18 minutes.

Medvedev got the ball rolling clinching the first game of the first set, only for the young German Zverev to go on a fiery rampage and clinch the next four to build up a 4-1 lead over Medvedev.
The Russian though was in no mood to call it quits easily, and rallied back hard to tie up the set at 5 games each, before Zverev clinched the next two in a row to call it a set.
Medvedev’s tactic of standing back deep on the return continued to backfire on him, as Zverev just stood tall and wreaked havoc in the second set as well, putting away the Russian with ease to win the second set 6-3.
Medvedev had everything to play for in the third set, as both players exchanged blow after blow in a nail-biter which went all the way to break points, where the Russian finally triumphed and put away Zverev 7-6 (7-4), to keep his chances alive.
And the Russian would keep at it with his never-say-die aggression, as he clawed his way back in a hotly contested fourth set to clinch it yet again at the the end, snatching the set away from Zverev 7-6 (7-5) pushing the German for one final showdown.

All the glory was there to be taken in the final set. But the momentum that Medvedev gained was not to be lost, as he punished Zverev and clinched the final set 6-3 to book his spot in the final.
Medvedev will now face one final obstacle in the form of a fiery Jannik Sinner in the final before they can wrap their hands around the coveted trophy.
