Rajasthan Digi Fest 2017 Kicks Off With 24-Hour Hackathon, Rajasthan's e-Governance Display
Rajasthan state government has kicked off the latest IT event on Saturday with a day-long hackathon organized for over 1500 participants.

Rajasthan Digi Fest 2017 kicked off in Udaipur on Saturday to mark the succession to the string of IT festivals that the state government of Rajasthan has been hosting. The event was started off with a 24-hour long Hackathon which saw a total of 1581 participants from various parts of India, work on their desired IT projects. These Hackathon projects covered areas of interests like Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, Virtual Reality, Big Data, Blockchain and many more. The day-long hackathon was concluded on 6am Sunday and the winners for the same will be announced later on the day, with prices worth Rs 15 Lakh, 10 Lakh and Rs 7.5 Lakh to be won for the first, second and the third place respectively. In addition, 10 more award categories will offer the participants, prizes like Tablets and smartphones as well.

The state government of Rajasthan’s concrete aim of building upon the e-governance and using digitization to address the various issues within the state was also focused upon during the Digi Fest 2017, Udaipur. Right from the history of digital initiatives like e-Mitra, e-Bazaar and like, the current efforts towards building more such digitization schemes were portrayed through various kiosks set up at the event grounds. Another key element in limelight at the IT festival were various start-ups which displayed their ongoing work, business model and how they plan to disrupt the market with their ideas. This is in accordance with the Govt of Rajasthan’s iStartup initiative wherein the state government provides support to start-ups from and outside of Rajasthan. The iStartup portal was announced at the Kota IT festival held in August and aims to help the start-ups pan India by providing them exposure to VCs, Angel Investors and even financial support up to some level. The Rajasthan government claims to have set aside a budget of Rs 500 Crore to invest in these start-ups, wherein the government will match any funding that a registered start-up gets by an angel investor, up to a limit of Rs 25 lakh.

Being held on the grounds of Mohanlal Sukhadiya University, the Digi Fest Udaipur 2017 will also see Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in attendance. Additionally, speakers from various established firms across the globe like Uber, Microsoft, Autodesk and more have also been invited to boost the morale of IT students and professionals present at the event. The Digi Fest, Udaipur 2017, will be open till December 3 for all visitors and till December 4 for the locals of Udaipr.
