OnePlus's open sale coincides with the first flash sale of the Xiaomi Mi4 that has specs similar to the OnePlus One handset.

New Delhi: The OnePlus One smartphone, which was until today available via invites, is now available to purchase in India without the need of an invite code. The catch here is that the phone is available exclusively on Amazon.in under the no-invite-needed sale only for today and will remain till stocks last.

The company says the open sale is intended to celebrate the completion of 10 weeks of OnePlus One in India, but it does not appear to be the only reason as the no-invite-required sale coincides with the first flash sale of the Xiaomi Mi4 that has specs similar to the OnePlus One.

Traditionally, to buy a OnePlus One handset, users need to have a OnePlus One invite. The invites are earned either by subscribing to the OnePlus newsletter, participating in contests and events hosted by OnePlus for India or by Amazon.in.

The OnePlus One smartphone (64GB) in India is priced at Rs 21,999 and features a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display.

It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with a dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera. It weighs 162g and has a thickness of 8.9mm. The phone runs the modified version of Android.

At its heart is Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2.5GHz wuad-core CPUs paired with 3GB of RAM. It comes in two colours - silk white and sandstone black.

In December 2014, the Delhi High Court lifted ban on sale of the OnePlus handsets over disputes related to its use of Cyanogen software.
