Google Pixel 9 series launch is just a few weeks away now and there seems to be a lot of excitement around the new lineup which will also have a Pixel Fold model.
But all this good news can become less exciting now because it has been mentioned that the Pixel 9 series will be launching this month with Android 14 out of the box. That’s right, the 2024 Pixel flagship lineup could be running on the 2023 Android version at the launch date.
Reports say that Google’s early Pixel launch date might have played into this situation as the Android 15 beta version is still going through its usual cycle in the program. Having said that, if Google was planning for an August launch for the Pixel 9 series, it ideally should have prepared the Android 15 beta schedule for an earlier release which would have helped the company go about its usual release timeline.
The other big issue that Google could have by offering Android 14 with the Pixel 9 models is that it will need to push an over-the-air (OTA) update to offer Android 15 version to the new flagship phones at the earliest.
More importantly, Google will have to make sure that its claimed 7 years of OS support is not denied to these consumers, and it ensures that one more OS update is offered rather than counting Android 15 in the update schedule for the Pixel 9 series.
Google has taken over the role of the leaksters once again by officially confirming the launch of the Pixel 9 series at the August 13 event. The company has also said that the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be coming to the Indian market one day after the global launch on August 14. Google has also confirmed the full lineup is going to launch in India this year which has surprised many after giving the country a cold shoulder over the past few launches.
