Elon Musk Says X Will Now Work On Your Smart TV Too: Here’s How

Elon Musk has confirmed that the X TV app for Smart TVs is now available in the beta version for select models. Musk gave his nod to the development by replying to a post on X by a handle named DogeDesigner. The post on the platform also mentions that the X TV app is live on Android TVs without any mention of Apple TV for the time being.

It also points out that people with TVs from brands like LG, Amazon Fire TV and Google TV (Android TV earlier) can try out the micro-blogging platform app on their big screens. It also mentions that more integrations are coming soon which most likely could be referring to Apple TV and other platforms like Roku among others. The app might be limited to the United States for now but a wider roll out should be expected in the coming months.

The first major sighting of the X TV app was made by the company’s CEO Linda Yaccarino back in April this year. The dedicated TV will host videos that will be streaming in high-res definition, she mentioned in a teaser. The video of the app’s interface hinted that X could offer a UI similar to YouTube which makes it easier for people to use.

Users can expect trending video algorithms, AI-powered topics, cross-device experience, enhanced video search, effortless casting, and wide availability (coming soon to most smart TVs). “We’ll keep you updated, ” she had mentioned back then.

X is definitely changing the paradigm of a social media app, and Musk is clearly focused on making it an everything app. Having a smart TV app not only increases its reach but also brings new customers to the platform. The video streaming service will definitely appeal to many but it remains to be seen how Musk and Co. plan to populate the content on the platform and where it sources the content.
