The exodus of veterans continues at Apple as senior designers move out of the company who have been part of the core design team with Jony Ive. Bart Andre is the latest industrial designer to leave Apple, who was a core part of Ive’s team when Apple designed some of the best-looking products.
The report from Bloomberg suggests Andre is leaving the company after being there for 32 years and one of the remaining designers who was instrumental for Apple’s success over the decades. It seems Andre is leaving the company but is unlikely to join anywhere else, as he has told his colleagues that he is retiring, the report adds. Having said that, Andre is the latest person to leave the tech giant so what is the reason for these departures?
The report hints at a possible riff between Andre and other senior designers who are now working with the new setup. In addition to the differing ideas, it is likely that moving these senior heads could save up on money and build a new core of designers who could offer refreshing ideas and designs.
That said, Apple still has retained some of the people who worked in Ive’s team, which suggests the company wants to align with the changing trends and demands of the industry. Ive left Apple officially back in 2019 and started his own premium design firm called LoveFrom, which catered to high-class clients and companies.
Ive was a core part of Apple’s change in product strategy when Steve Jobs returned as the company CEO back in 1997. It has been reported that Ive is in talks with OpenAI to develop a hardware product that could utilise the capabilities of ChatGPT and offer a compelling product like the AI Pin from Humane or Rabbit R1 for the consumers.
