Shalini Ajith stepped into the film industry at an early age. She was considered one of the best child artists of her time. She has worked in around 50 films as a child artist in the Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films. The actress has worked with all the leading actors such as Rajinikanth, Mammootty, Mohanlal and Venkatesh. She took a break from films after she went for higher education. The actress’ last movie as a child artist was Keechu Raallu, which was released in 1991. Shalini Ajith returned to the film industry as a lead heroine in the Malayalam film industry with the movie Aniyathipraavu, which was directed by Fazil. It starred Shalini and debutant Kunchacko Boban in lead roles. She made her blockbuster comeback with this movie in 1997. The actress married superstar Ajith Kumar in 2000. Recently, a funny and innocent incident between Shalini and late actor MG Ramachandran is going viral.
The incident took place during the wedding ceremony of KR Vijaya’s younger sister. At that time Shalini was working as a child artist in the film industry. Hence, she was invited to the wedding too along with the other leading film stars, political leaders and celebrities. According to media reports, MGR was also present at the wedding. None of the attendees went near the actor as they were reportedly scared of him. Being innocent, Shalini went to him after she saw the actor at the wedding. As soon as MGR saw her, the actor pulled the kid and kissed her on the cheeks.
He then asked her name. Similarly, Shalini asked the actor, “What is your name?”. MGR smiled after listening to the question and said, “MGR.” Immediately after this, Shalini said, “That’s right. So what does that mean?” To this, MGR laughed loudly and said “MG Ramachandran”. This still didn’t quench her curiosity about his name and asked, “Then why everyone calls you, MGR”. After hearing this, the actor couldn’t stop laughing over the innocence of the actress.
Shalini Ajith was last seen in the movie Piriyadha Varam Vendum which was released in 2001.
