New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made it clear that he has no intention of stepping down from his post before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. "I will continue till the next elections. After that I will hand over the baton to other prime minister," he said during his media interaction on Friday.
He echoed his party's line on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi saying the Gandhi scion was most likely to take the baton from him after the 2014 elections. "Rahul Gandhi has outstanding credentials to take over. I hope the party takes the decision at the opportune time," he said during his third press meet after he took charge as the Prime Minister in May 2004.
"I am confident that the new generation of our leaders will also guide this great nation successfully through the uncharted and uncertain waters of global change," he added.
There had been lot of talks about Manmohan's press conference with many speculating that Manmohan might step down from his post.
Manmohan Singh-led government has seen a series of scams during its nine-and-a-half year rule.
