New Delhi: Even though four rebel leaders have been expelled from the Aam Aadmi Party, and ugly war of words has broken out between those who have been booted out and the party leadership. After ousted AAP leader Prashant Bhushan made explosive allegations against AAP leader Ashish Khetan of planting false stories, he turned the tables on Bhushans.
Khetan questioned the Prashant Bhushan and his father Shanti, and asked them how they have managed to build massive properties and amassed wealth. "I have declared all my assets, movable and immovable. But Bhushans need to give an explanation of their property now," said a fuming Khetan.
Challenging the Bhushans he demanded proof from them of allegations that they have levelled on him. He also said that the Bhushans will have to bear the brunt of questioning the integrity of an honest man. "They have challenged an honest aam aadmi. There will now be investigation in all their properties. Either they prove me dishonest or else they will have to prove their honesty," he said.
Reacting to the claims by Khetan, one of the founding members of AAP Shanti Bhushan said that he has always been honest in his work. "The money is honestly earned by me, every penny of it. Let him expose us, he will get exposed himself. Our family is the most honest family in the country. Nobody can question our integrity," he said.
Meanwhile, AAP termed the allegations against Khetan and another leader Pankaj Gupta as "baseless" and said the party would not order any inquiry into them.
Bhushan accused AAP General Secretary Pankaj Gupta of accepting Rs 2 crore donation from shell companies and Ashish Khetan of writing planted stories in national magazine Tehelka where he used to work earlier.
