Sack Dikshit if she does not resign: BJP

New Delhi: The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit should be sacked if she does not resign after her indictment by the government auditor on the Commonwealth Games. Accusing the chief minister of being involved in corruption, BJP and allies, joined by other opposition parties raised the pitch for Dikshit's resignation in parliament, forcing the house to be adjourned for the day.

The BJP also moved a privilege motion against Sports Minister Ajay Maken in both houses, stating that he misled parliament by saying the decision to make Suresh Kalmadi the chief of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee was taken by the previous NDA government.

"When the (Delhi) Lokayukta report indicted Rajkumar Chauhan (Delhi PWD minister) they said the Lokayukta report was not correct, now that the CAG report is here they say it is only an audit report. But there is the Shunglu committee report which indicts the chief minister," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.

Party General Secretary Ravi Shankar Prasad accused the Congress of not allowing investigation against its leaders.

"The Congress party will never allow any fact involving their leaders to be investigated fairly, by the police, by the CBI, or even by the parliamentary process,' Prasad said.

He also stressed that the chief minister should be sacked if she does not resign.

"She must be sacked if she is not willing to resign and her role be properly investigated," he said.

Party spokesperson Tarun Vijay meanwhile said an FIR should be registered against Dikshit.

"The CAG report against Delhi CM has clearly put her in the dock. Not only should she resign, we demand that an FIR should be lodged against her," Vijay told reporters here.

The party also moved privilege motion against Sports Minister Ajay Maken for his statement in parliament.

While SS Ahluwalia moved the motion in Rajya Sabha, in Lok Sabha the motion was moved by Yashwant Sinha.

"They revealed some facts and kept others," Sinha said.

He also denied the allegation that the opposition was stalling the proceedings of the house. He said the opposition wanted the parliament to run, but there should be action.

"Don't treat parliament like a school debating society. If something has the people exercised, it will reflect in parliament," he said.
