New Delhi: In a left-handed compliment, Congress today said Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's "blessings" have found the Prime Minister and Delhi Chief Minister on the same page backing the Art of Living event despite the "ecological disaster" on the floodplains of Yamuna.
Party spokesman P L Punia said it was strange that Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal have been at loggerheads on each issue but Sri Sri's "blessings" have brought them together.
He said that Prime Minister should have distanced himself from the event like President Pranab Mukherjee in the wake of the strictures from the High Court, National Green Tribunal and the environmentalists against the organisers.
This was especially needed in view of the fact that the sheer legitimacy of the event being staged on the banks of the Yamuna was brought into question. Punia also took exception to the remarks of Ravi Shankar challenging the fine imposed by the NGT in view of the severe damage to the ecology that was nothing short of a disaster.
