Rahul Gandhi Cries 'Betrayal' Mandate, Nitish Kumar Promises Fitting Reply
Rahul Gandhi, whose Congress Party was part of the Grand Alliance in Bihar that was deserted by Nitish Kumar's JD(U) on Wednesday evening, said that he was aware that it was being planned for the last three-four months.

New Delhi: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar deserted the Mahagathbandhan for his personal politics and joined the wrong people.

“Nitish Kumar has cheated us. He gave me a different reaction when he met me," he said.

Rahul, whose party was part of the Grand Alliance in Bihar that was deserted by Kumar's JD(U), said that he was aware that it was being planned for the last three-four months.

"He (Nitish) had joined hands with us in the anti-communal fight, but for his personal politics, joined hands with those against whom he had fought," said Rahul.

Asked about Rahul Gandhi’s comments Nitish said, “We will reply to his statement in proper manner."

The Congress leader said this was a problem of India's politics. "People do anything for their selfish motives. There is no principle, no credibility. They can do anything for power," he said.

Sources said that Rahul Gandhi kept on thinking till the end that Nitish would not quit and the Mahagathbandhan was safe. In fact, when he was asked recently about the situation in Bihar, Rahul told an ally, “It’s all ok now. Nitish will never join the BJP. He will stay with us."

Many of his advisors had cautioned the Congress vice-president that Nitish was ready to ally with the BJP.

Rahul had recently met Rahul in Delhi where he reminded the Congress vice-president of the day he tore up the ordinance. It is evident now that the meeting was not fruitful enough.

What's your reaction?
