New Delhi: The Congress core committee on Friday, discussed Anna Hazare's threat to fast again and the inclusion of the Prime Minister under the Lokpal ambit.
An all party meeting is likely to decide on the final draft of the Lokpal Bill and sources have said that most political parties are not keen on the inclusion of the Prime Minister. Other political parties will be consulted before the bill is presented in Parliament
Sources said that the Government is not going to come under pressure with Anna's threats to go on a fast again. Government representatives will meet again on Sunday to finalise the government's draft of the Lokpal Bill.
The dominant view is that the Prime Minister can be brought under Lokpal the Lokpal's purview only after he demits office.
Anna Hazare and his supporters have been adamant that the post of Prime Minister should be brought under the Lokapl's ambit. They claim that one of the reason the talks with the government representatives on the Lokpal Bill drafting committee failed was because the government has against bring the Prime Minister under the Lokpal.
Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh has also voiced his opinion in favour of the Prime Minister coming under the Lokpal's ambit even though he later took a U-turn and said the question should be left for the Lokpal Committee to decide.
