Jammu: Senior National Conference leader Devender Singh Rana on Sunday said that a strong edifice would be laid to make Nagrota Assembly constituency a model across the Jammu region.
"A beginning has already been made during recent years and the tempo to transform will get big push with National Conference forming a strong and stable government after the upcoming assembly elections," Rana said, while launching his election campaign in Nagrota.
He said that even though the constituency was near the winter capital of the state, it had suffered due to the "ineffective representation".
"We did push the developmental agenda in recent years which has witnessed a significant turnaround but more is required to be done to the vision of making it a Nava Jammu," he said.
Rana, who is also the provincial president of the party, said that National Conference believes in overall progress and prosperity of all the regions of the state.
"Now a new era has stepped in where democracy is flourishing in a big way," he said. He said the policies and programmes of the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government have laid a strong democratic edifice in the state.
"Self reliance has been achieved in many sectors, laws were enforced to make the administration accountable and transparent, sincere measures were taken to generate employability and above all, a sense of security has been instilled amongst the people which is necessary for peace and development during the Omar led government," Rana said.
