Modi government aims to bring Lokpal in place by August 15: sources
Government sources say that the DoPT is making changes in the rules on the mandate of the Lokpal search committee.

New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government is mulling changes in the Lokpal Act. Government sources have told CNN-IBN that the Department of Personnel and Training is making changes in the rules on the mandate of the Lokpal search committee.

The government plans to empower the search committee by including people from outside the list provided by the DoPT. The aim is to have the Lokpal in place by August 15, 2014, say sources.

Sources say the PMO has begun the drill by asking three judges for their consent.
