The Anti Corruption Bureau has been directed to register a case against K Rosaiah.

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Andhra Pradesh has been was directed by a court to register a case against former chief minister K Rosaiah and 16 other people over irregularities in a land scam in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Rosaiah is under the scanner following allegations by a group of petitioners that nine acres of land, which was in the custody of the state government and worth Rs 200 crore, was handed over to a private party by him when he was the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The petition against Rosaiah and others has been filed by an advocate, Mohanlal, in the Anti-Corruption Bureau court in Hyderabad. The court had on Monday directed the ACB to submit a report on the issue before January 28.

Rosaiah allegedly denotified the said property in Ameerpet village and mandal of Hyderabad district.

The property was then handed over to a private developer for the construction of a district commercial complex.

According to the petitioner, the land was bought by GN Naidu and a few others from the landowners in 1997 after the land acquisition notification was issued.

However in 2010, following a representation from Naidu, the state government withdrew the land acquisition notification and handed over the land to Naidu in an unlawful manner, the petitioner alleged.

The petitioner said the even the Andhra Pradesh High Court had earlier rejected the representations of Naidu and maintained that the land once acquired could not be given back.
