New Delhi: Considered a citadel of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Krishna Nagar constituency in East Delhi appears to be a cakewalk for its chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi. The constituency's voters are enthusiastic about Bedi with many of them fully supporting her in her bid to become Delhi' CM.

The seat was represented by Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan since 1993. Vardhan nurtured his constituency very well and won the 2013 elections easily by over 40,000 votes.

Bedi will, however, not face any tough fight from the seat as both the opposition candidates from the seat are not very strong. The Congress has fielded Bansi Lal and Aam Aadmi Party SK Bagga.

The constituency with 1.8 lakh voters consists of four wards - Krishna Nagar, Geeta Colony, Anar Kali and Kondli - which has a mixed population of middle class and lower middle class. The seat also has a large population of Punjabis at 40 per cent, Vaishyas 40 per cent and others 20 per cent.

While the BJP is confident of getting the support of Punjabis and a major chunk of Vaishyas but the lower middle class is still with the AAP. The vote bank of the Congress has totally shifted to AAP. The Congress is only strong in the Geeta Colony ward as Bansi Lal is a known face.

"There are a lot of Punjabis and Kiran Bedi will definitely benefit from this. Even though the BJP government has not done much, Bedi will surely win," says Madan Lal Jain, a resident.

The women voters in the constituency are completely backing Bedi as women security is their prime issue and they see the former IPS officer as the only hope.

"The BJP will win from here. Kiran has a very good image and Narendra Modi factor will also play a vital role. Every now and then there is a case of chain snatching and only she can put a stop to it," says Rati, a college student.

Another resident Shashi Arora says, "Only Kiran Bedi can run Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal is not the right person given his behaviour and he made fun of the country. The BJP is strong here."

Many people have lost their trust on AAP national convener and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal after he left the government in 49 days.

"We don't trust Arvind Kejriwal anymore. He left the government in 49 days and he can do it again," says Gurudev Goyal, a shopkeeper.

While Kiran Bedi is ahead of her rivals but in the last few days the AAP has made some gains.

AAP candidate Bagga also has some support in the middle class and his party is already the most preferred among the poor.
