New Delhi: In a surprise move, the Janata Dal United on Friday demanded that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha should be from the Congress, said sources.
Sources told CNN-IBN that the JDU has assured the Congress of their support on the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha issue. Sources added that JDU was of the opinion that the Congress should get the post.
The Congress won 44 seats in the 545-member House and according to the rules of the House, the party fell short of staking claim to be Leader of Opposition.
