Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Raj Thackeray on Wednesday said that he respects his uncle and Shiv Sena supremo and Bal Thackeray, just a few days after attacking him.
After openly criticising his uncle at an election rally last week, Raj Thackeray on Wednesday denied he had done any such thing while speaking at a press conference in Dombivli ahead of municipal elections there.
Addressing his uncle as honourable Balasaheb, Raj said he always respected Bal Thackeray and acknowledged him as the man who trained and brought up by him.
But he claimed that other leaders were misleading the Shiv Sena chief.
Bal Thackeray had reportedly remarked that it was Raj who had appointed Uddhav Thackeray as Shiv Sena working president, But the MNS chief on Monday had said how could he do so when he did not had the power to name even a 'shakha pramukh'.
"I have always believed there is only one Shiv Sena pramukh. It is your party, and you had the powers to take any decision. How is it possible, you were not aware about such a major decision," Raj asked referring to the Sena supremo's October 17 Dussehra rally remarks.
Raj said the Sena chief always wanted to name Uddhav as the working president.
"The decision was not taken in Mahableshwar, but long time ago. Balasaheb felt I could be a hurdle and hence I told him that I would announce the decision myself," Raj had said.
