In some relief for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, the Delhi government has refused to restrain the government from airing publicity campaigns and advertisements.
The High Court denied any stay on publicity campaigns and advertisements that allegedly glorify Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party.
The ruling party had come under flak from the opposition from approving over Rs 500 crore as part of its publicity order.
A plea had cited that AAP was violating a Supreme Court order that had prevented governments from spending excessive amounts on building personality cults.
AAP had earlier defended the decision to spend over Rs 500 crore for advertisement, putting the blame for it on media.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said, "The government is working for 24 hours. It was for the media to show what works are being done, but it is busy with other news."
