New Delhi: A day after BJP's former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa praised Sonia Gandhi, the Congress snubbed him on Monday, saying their party president doesn't need any certificate.
"Neither the Congress nor its president needs a certificate from anyone," spokesperson Manish Tewari said.
He said the Bharatiya Janata Party had been plagued by infighting since taking power in Karnataka in 2008.
"I hope the people of Karnataka will take note of this when the state goes to polls in eight months," said Tewari.
Observing that the fight between Yeddyurappa, who wants to unseat Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, and the BJP leadership was an "internal matter", Tewari said: "They (BJP) will stew in their own juices."
Yeddyurappa, who is pitching hard to be chief minister again, Sunday praised Gandhi for treating her party leaders with respect. The statement stunned the BJP.
