Congress selects 11 names for Rajya Sabha polls
4 Union Ministers and 2 former CMs to contest March 26 elections.

New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday announced the names of 11 candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections on March 26.

Four union ministers and two former chief ministers are among the candidates. Petroleum Minister Murli Deora and Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of State in the Prime minister’s Office, were re-nominated from Maharashtra.

T Subbirami Reddy, Union Minister of State for Mines, and G K Vasan, Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, will contest elections from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu respectively.

Congress treasurer Motilal Vohra will contest from Chhattisgarh and Nandi Yellaiah from Andhra Pradesh.

Mukut Mithi, former lieutenant governor of Pudducherry, will contest the elections from his home state Arunachal Pradesh. Reishang Keishing has been given the ticket from Manipur. Both leaders are former chief ministers.

Chaudhary Ram Prakash (Haryana), Bhubaneshwar Kalita (Assam) and R C Kuntia (Orissa) are the other Congress candidates in the fray.
