As per the latest trends, the Cong is leading in 10 out of 14 seats in Assam.

Guwahati: The Congress was leading in 16 of the 24 seats in the Northeast followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in three and the Left parties in two.

According to latest trends available, the Congress was leading in 10 of the 14 seats in Assam followed by the BJP with three and the Bodoland People's Front, an ally of the Congress, in one seat.

In the lone parliamentary seat in Mizoram, Congress aspirant CL Ruala was ahead of his rival H Lallungmuana, an independent supported by the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF), Mizoram People's Conference (MPC) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) by 5,000 votes.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the Congress was leading in both the seats. The two seats were earlier held by the BJP.

In Manipur too, the Congress was leading in both the seats.

In Tripura, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) candidates were leading in both the parliamentary constituencies.

Ruling CPI-M candidate Bajuban Reang was leading over his Congress rival Diba Chandra Hrangkhawl in Tripura East parliamentary constituency, while in Tripura West the sitting CPI-M MP was leading over his Congress rival Sudip Roy Barman by 15,000 and 12,000 votes respectively.

In Meghalaya, the Congress was leading in the Shillong seat, while the NCP candidate was leading in the Tura seat.

In Nagaland, the Congress was trailing behind the BJP-backed candidate.
