New Delhi: The Coal Ministry on Monday submitted a report on missing files to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The mystery behind the missing coal blocks allocation files had been the topic of heated debate in Parliament in monsoon session.
The UPA government is facing a heat by the Opposition over missing of coal blocks allocation files. Coal Minister Shriprakash Jaiswal had told Parliament that seven files, 173 applications and nine documents related to coal blocks allocation are not traceable. The CBI had asked for 43 files, 176 applications and 17 other documents to carry on with the investigations.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had earlier told Parliament that the Central Government has nothing to hide in the coal blocks allocation case. But the Opposition is not satisfied with the Prime Minister's response and had demanded that the he should also be questioned. "The government has nothing to hide. Pointing out that over 1 lakh files had already been handed over," Manmohan Singh said.
