CM plans to reserve 68 pc DU undergraduate seats for Delhiites
A proposal is likely to be sent to the HRD ministry and the DU Vice Chancellor for consideration soon.

New Delhi: In what is being seen as a sop by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit with barely eight weeks to go for polls, the Delhi government is planning to reserve around 68 per cent of undergraduate seats in 28 Delhi University colleges for domiciles.

A proposal is likely to be sent to the HRD ministry and the DU Vice Chancellor for consideration soon. However, sources saying it is unlikely to be accepted.

The decision, if implemented, would mean that 12 DU colleges, which are completely funded by the government will have 90 per cent seats reserved for city students. Sixteen other colleges which receive 50 per cent capital grants and 5 per cent recurring grants from the Delhi government will have a 50 per cent local quota.
