New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Thursday congratulated party workers, office-bearers and Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for the party's victory in the civic body polls in Rajasthan which, he said, has "shown the mirror of truth to Congress".
"This victory is the victory of the developmental policies of BJP and good governance in the state. The Congress party standing on the sidelines of the country's politics, needs to do some serious introspection. This is the mandate given by people of Rajasthan against anti¬development and negative politics of baseless allegations of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and the people have shown the mirror of truth to Congress through this victory," he said.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted to thank the people of Rajasthan for their trust in the BJP government in the state.
Shah said there is anger in the public against the negative tendencies of the Congress to obstruct the country's development and economic progress and the people will continue to respond in the same manner in the coming days. He said the "public court" has dismissed the ongoing unrestrained and baseless allegations of Congress and put their stamp on BJP, again expressing their allegiance to its programme of development and good governance.
The ruling BJP today won majority in 66 civic bodies, including Ajmer Municipal Corporation, while Congress bagged 35 of them in the Rajasthan civic body polls, the results for which were announced on Thursday.
The 129 civic bodies in the state, comprising a total 3,351 wards, had gone to polls on August 17.
