BJP to Defy Kerala Govt Order, Mohan Bhagwat to Hoist Tricolour in Palakkad School
"The state government's directive is not binding upon the school as it does not come under the state. Vyasa Vidya Peethom is a private school and follows CBSE curriculum," Krishandas said.

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP Palakkad unit president E Krishandas has countered the Kerala government's circular over Republic Day celebrations in the state and said that RSS-chief Mohan Bhagwat will hoist the national flag at Vyasa Vidya Peethom, a management school in the district.

"The state government's directive is not binding upon the school as it does not come under the state. Vyasa Vidya Peethom is a private school and follows CBSE curriculum," Krishandas said.

On Tuesday, the Kerala government issued a circular to all institutions in the state, detailing the procedure on how to celebrate Republic Day.

The circular says that in all public offices, schools and colleges in the state, the national flag should be hoisted by the head of departments.

Chief Minister's Office said that the guidelines were issued on the basis of existing central rules and regulations. The circular was issued by the general administration department who said that these guidelines have been in place for a while and they have issued similar circulars in the past as well.

On August 15 last year, Bhagwat raised the Tricolour at a government-aided school, 6 km from Palakkad. He plans to poke the state’s Left government once again on Republic Day at the Sangh-run Bharathiya Vidya Niketan in Kallekadu.

Bhagwat had kicked up a confrontation with the Pinarayi Vijayan government last year, defying a restraining order by the District Collector, who cited a rule that only people’s representatives or school functionaries can preside over Independence Day celebrations at government-aided schools.

This time there is no restraining order. But the RSS is playing it safe by getting its chief to make a point on its own turf, a Sangh-controlled school.
