Tom Cruise sitting barefoot on the topmost point of Burj Khalifa is one of the most iconic photos of the actor. This stunning photo was taken during the shooting of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, in which Tom Cruise did a number of stunts in and around the world’s tallest building. One of the stunts included getting to the topmost point of the building. One would easily laud Tom Cruise for scaling the famous Dubai landmark. However, it appears that the actor is not the only one who reached the top of the 2,722-foot building.
Kautuk Srivastava, a writer, comedian and internet personality, recently pointed to a name written on the top column of Burj Khalifa. A closer inspection reveals that the name is Satish Shenoy. The name is followed by two dates, “20-05-2005 to 12-03-2010”. Kautuk Srivastava noted that these dates almost coincide with the construction of Burj Khalifa which took six years to build from 2004 to 2010. There are some other names also scribbled on the column but they are not legible. It is likely that Satish Shenoy and his friends were involved in the construction of Burj Khalifa when they wrote their names.

It is also possible that way before Tom Cruise reached the top of the building, Satish Shenoy had achieved this feat when he was working. However, unlike Tom Cruise, Satish Shenoy and others like him did not get the same recognition. Kautuk Srivastava shared this observation in an Instagram video shared on June 30.
Commenting on this video, an Instagram user wrote, “Burj Khalifa is Satish Tower for me from now onwards.” Another person wondered, “Anyone else thinks that Satish might have written it while that part was on the ground before it was installed up there?”
According to fact-checking website Snopes, the column on top of Burj Khalifa is hollow and can be accessed with an internal ladder. This is how maintenance crews access this part of the building.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that someone noted the names written on Burj Khalifa’s top. This same observation was shared on social media previously as well. News18 couldn’t verify if these photos were accurate.
Generally, the highest floor one can access in Burj Khalifa is up to the 152nd floor which has a lounge where one can get drinks and small plate snacks. There are lower observation decks on the 124th and 125th floors. The upper observation deck is on the 148th floor. Burj Khalifa has 163 floors in total.
