Lucknow: Former Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ram Vilas Vedanti has indirectly blamed UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for BJP’s loss in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
“There are some people who have been termed as ‘star pracharak’ and were sent on a country-wide tour. The statements of such people have hurt the principles of BJP. There was a conspiracy, however, I am sure there will be sorting and sifting in BJP before 2019 and those who have control over their tongue will be the reason for the BJP coming back in power in 2019,” he said.
Vedanti, a senior member of Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, said the public has given mandate to force the BJP to ponder over the causes that led to the defeat.
The former MP from Pratapgarh was upbeat of the BJP’s prospects in 2019 and said once the real reasons behind the loss are identified “will ensure than Narendra Modi is elected as PM once again.”
In a comment seen as a veiled dig at Adityanath, Vedanti said if there is growing resentment about a particular CM, then that person needs to be shunted out.
“I hope the BJP reviews whose controversial statement caused resentment throughout the country. PM Modi and BJP president Amit Shah should take a decision which will be historic and ensures the party’s win in 2019,” added Vedanti.
