Patna: A day after his election win by a huge margin in the Maharajganj by-poll, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Prabhunath Singh is now facing arrest. Prabunath has been charged for misbehaving with a trainee IAS officer and a senior district official on poll duty during the by-poll.
His anticipatory bail runs out on Thursday and he may be arrested. Prabhunath Singh had reportedly misbehaved with officials accusing them of allowing BJP and JD(U) leaders to misuse red beacon cars.
Lalu Prasad-led RJD showed on Wednesday that the party was very much a force to reckon with in Bihar when its candidate Prabhunath Singh dealt a massive blow to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by trouncing JD(U) candidate and state Education Minister PK Shahi in the Maharajganj Lok Sabha bypoll by a huge margin of over 1,37,000 votes.
Prabhunath Singh polled over 3.81 lakh votes, PK Shahi got over 2.44 lakh votes with Congress candidate Jitendra Swami managing just a little over 22,000 votes. Prabhunath Singh was a JD(U) MP in the last Lok Sabha.
