Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh's Convoy Attacked After Mamata Denied Permission for Rath Yatra
The BJP, which moved the court seeking direction to the state government for giving permission for its three rallies, told the court that it will hold peaceful yatras.

New Delhi: West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh’s convoy was attacked in Cooch Behar while he was on his way to Matbhanga to attend a party programme on the day the BJP was to launch a rath yatra in the state.

The leader escaped unhurt but the glass windows of the car he was travelling in were all shattered.

Ghosh alleged that the "TMC goons" attacked his convoy and that the state police are working under political pressure. He further said that he will lodge a police complaint in the matter.

Endorsing the West Bengal government's decision to deny permission to hold the rally over fears of communal tension, the Calcutta High too has accepted the Mamata Banerjee-led government's stand on the issue.

The BJP, which told the court that it will hold peaceful yatras, has decided to challenge the Calcutta High Court order denying them permission to hold rallies.
