Amid rumours of using armed forces against Naxals, the Defence Minister met the three Service chiefs on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Will the government use the armed forces in anti-Naxal operations? Amid reports of the Centre revising its strategy, Defence Minister AK Antony met the three Service Chiefs on Tuesday.

The Defence Minister along with Defence Secretary had a 90 minute meeting with the Chiefs. But the final decision will be taken by the Union Cabinet. Currently, the Army is training the CRPF personnel on how to tackle the Naxals, while Air Force is helping in logistical operations.

The Defence Minister had hinted of a possible use of armed forces at the NDA passing out parade in Khadakvaskla on Monday.

The Naxal issue was also discussed in the Army commanders conference last week and the Central Command was asked to prepare a blue-print for the operation.
