Lucknow: Samajwadi Party's General Secretary Kiranmoy Nanda on Friday said that Akhilesh Yadav taking out a Vikas Yatra two days before the SP's silver jubilee programme on Nov 5 should not be seen as 'alarming'.
"Akhilesh carrying out a yatra two days before the program should not be alarming. Who knows the yatra might be postponed. Every political party is out in the field. There is no time left. We should immediately start the campaign," said Nanda.
The yatra assumes significance as the senior Yadav is to kick-off the foundation day celebration of the SP. And with son Akhilesh not being present it will set the rumour mills working overtime.
Nanda downplayed the alleged dissension in the ranks and maintained that there is no rift in the party. He clarified that Mulayam is the National President, Shivpal the state president and Akhilesh the CM.
Nanda said 'as far as disgruntled voices are concerned there are always some of them in every party'.
He further stated that the CM is doing his job and the party its own.
"Akhilesh's good work will be our election agenda. The CM has the responsibility to make people aware of the good work. There is no conflict in the party," said Nanda.
Nanda further said that that those who have done no wrong should be taken back in the party.
The controversy that seems to have taken over the party surfaced after party patriarch Mulayam Singh in a press conference refused to endorse son Akhilesh as the natural leader if the party is re-elected to power next year.
