Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha on Monday reiterated his party's stand to take up the latest revelations in AgustaWestland chopper deal that points finger at Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her close aides in Parliament.
Sinha compared the AgustaWestland deal with Bofors scam, saying, "After deal was done, the scandal exposed in Italy not in India. Same happened in Bofors, the news came from foreign country. We will bring up the matter in the Parliament."
He also added that the document clearly shows that the family mentioned in the diary is the family of Sonia Gandhi.
The letter that has brought a new twist in the scam names Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Ahmed Patel, Pranab Mukherjee, Veerappa Moily, Oscar Fernandes, MK Narayanan and Vinay Singh as Sonia's key aides who need to be targeted to push the deal through.
The letter in news was written by Michel to the India head of AgustaWestland in March 2008.
Earlier, reacting to the incident, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and BJP leader, Arun Jaitley had tweeted, "Has UPA, which Sonia Gandhi heads, subverted India into a kleptocracy? Is the government which she controls a filth machine?"
The details emerged after CNN-IBN accessed a copy of a letter by key middleman Christian Michel written to the India head of AgustaWestland in March 2008.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken note of the letter and will examine its authenticity. CBI sources also say that they are in touch with the Italian prosecutors in the case.
Meanwhile, sources in the PMO said that the deal has already been cancelled. "Will take action against those indulging in such slanderous activities," PMO sources said.
