AAP government rolls out its maiden budget for Delhi, hikes allocation for education sector by 106%
"We will convert 50 schools into model schools and will install CCTV cameras in all classrooms across all Delhi schools," says Sisodia.

New Delhi: In the maiden budget of the Aam Aadmi Party government in the national capital, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said it was "country's first Swaraj budget" and they received more than 1,500 suggestions.

Sisodia said the expenditure plan for Financial Year 2015-16 is of Rs 41,129 crore. The major beneficiary of the budget is the education sector as the budget allocation is hiked by over 106% to Rs 9,836 crore.

After coming to power in February this year by winning 67 seats in the 70-member House, the Arvind Kejriwal government is now aiming at 100% literacy in Delhi in the next two years.

"We will convert 50 schools into model schools and will install CCTV cameras in all classrooms across all Delhi schools. At least 20,000 new teachers to be roped in. As many as 70 schools will work in two shifts," says Sisodia.

Sisodia adds, "Loans up to Rs 10 lakh each would be given to those interested in higher education. Girls will get the loan at 1% lesser interest rate."

The party which came to power after promising to fight against corruption and complete transparency in all aspects says, "We are bringing an amendment to act against schools and colleges not functioning with transparency."

Focussing on skill development, Sisodia says, "Delhi to get a new skill development university. Rs 310 crore allocated for skill development and professional education. Six new working women hostels to come up in Delhi."

Fulfilling one of its key poll promises of free Wi-Fi, Sisodia says, "All colleges and villages in Delhi to get free wifi with an allocation of Rs 50 crore."
