India bounced back in emphatic style in Cape Town after losing the first Test match to draw series 1-1. The Asian Giants played a dominant cricket as pacers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah set up the historic triumph for them in Cape Town. The two pacers claimed six-wicket hauls as Siraj wreaked havoc in the first innings, while Bumrah produced his brilliance in the second to kick South Africa out of the game.
The win also helped India improve their position in the World Test Championship 2023-25 points table as they reclaimed the top spot. It was India’s second win in the ongoing WTC cycle as they pipped South Africa in the tally. The defeat in Centurion pushed India to the sixth spot but the win on Thursday put them back at the numero uno spot.

Meanwhile, we will see some changes in the points table after the ongoing Sydney Test between Australia and Pakistan.
India qualified for the finals of the first two editions of the World Test Championships but failed to lift the Test mace, however, the win in Cape Town will boost their morale in the ongoing cycle.
Earlier, set to make 79 to win, India needed just 12 overs to secure the victory.
South Africa won the first Test in Centurion by an innings and 32 runs.
Chasing a small target on a difficult pitch, Indian opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal went on the attack from the first ball, making 28 off 23 deliveries before being caught on the boundary off Nandre Burger.
Shubman Gill (10) and Virat Kohli (12) fell to Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen before Shreyas Iyer hit the winning boundary with his only scoring stroke. Captain Rohit Sharma was unbeaten on 16.
Markram hit 106 off 103 balls before South Africa were bowled out for 176 shortly before lunch.
It was the shortest Test match ever in terms of overs bowled, bettering the previous best that involved Australia and South Africa at the MCG way back in 1932.
A total of 106.2 overs were bowled in this match while 109.2 overs were bowled in that 1932-match which Australia won. Earlier, South Africa’s first innings had lasted for 23.2 overs, just like this game.
