Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse: CM Dhami Exclaims Labours Safety As a Priority

After an under-construction tunnel collapsed in Uttarakhand five days ago, an American Auger drill was flown from Delhi to rescue the 40 labourers trapped under the rubble. This piece of special machinery works at a theoretical speed of 5 metres per hour and is expected to cut through 70 metres of rock in approximately 12 to 15 hours. Taking stock of the whole incident and responding to a question related to negligence in tunnel construction, Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the State Secretariat said that our priority, for now, is to get 40 labourers out safely.

With an aim to jointly rehearse the conduct of sub conventional operations and synergize joint responses during counter-terrorist operations, the ninth edition of Joint Military Exercise “Exercise MITRA SHAKTI-2023” between India and Sri Lanka commenced on November 16 in Aundh, Pune. The exercise is being conducted from November 16 to November 29. The Indian contingent of 120 personnel is being represented mainly by troops from the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, while the Sri Lankan side is being represented by personnel from the 53 Infantry Division.

ED Issues Fresh Summons To American Millionaire Singham in NewsClick PMLA Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to Shanghai-based American millionaire Neville Roy Singham, through the Ministry of External Affairs, for questioning in connection with a money laundering probe linked to the online news portal NewsClick case on November 17. The 69-year-old businessman, who is accused of spreading Chinese propaganda in India, is also accused in a First Information Report registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alleging violation of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA).
