'Productive Exchange of Views': PM Modi Speaks To Netanyahu Over Phone On Israel-Hamas Conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke to his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu over the phone on the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Terming the conversation “productive”, PM Modi said that he highlighted India’s consistent stand in favour of early restoration of peace and stability in Israel. The two leaders also discussed their shared concerns regarding maritime security.

“Had a productive exchange of views with PM Netanyahu on the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, including shared concerns on the safety of maritime traffic. Highlighted India’s consistent stand in favour of early restoration of peace & stability in the region with continued humanitarian assistance for the affected,” PM Modi tweeted.

The call between PM Modi and Netanyahu after India last week voted in favour of a United Nations resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

It is important to note that India shares close ties with Israel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier in October expressed his solidarity with Israel after air strikes by terrorist organisation, Hamas. Prime Minister Modi said that the thoughts and prayers of Indians were with the innocent victims and their families.

“Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour,” PM Modi posted on X.

According to latest reports, at least 900 Israelis have been killed in the Hamas attacks, while over 2,616 were injured. Meanwhile, the Israeli Air Force continues to extensively attack terrorist organisations in the Gaza Strip.
