The family of Amol Shinde, one of the accused arrested along with his partners for the recent Parliament security breach, threatened to die by suicide if they are not allowed to talk to their son.

Shinde, the 22-year-old youth from Maharashtra’s Latur was arrested along with his accomplices in Delhi for breaching the security in Parliament on Friday. His parents claim that their son did whatever he did out of frustration of unemployment.

According to a TOI report, Shinde’s parents said that their son always dreamt of getting recruited into the army or the police force to serve the country and participated in recruitment drives in various places to get the job but was unable to get recruited.

“He tried six times but failed. Whatever he did was out of frustration resulting from unemployment. We should be allowed to speak to our son, or else we will commit suicide,” Dhanraj, Amol’s father told the publication.

Amol’s parents also said that he was a bright student and always performed well in his studies. He did well in different physical tests, ranging from marathons to discus throws, shot puts, long jumps, and high jumps, but still failed to get in, the father added.

Talking about the family’s struggle, Shinde’s father said that the family borrowed money from a money lender to support his studies as he was enthusiastic about cracking the exam.

Amol Shinde’s family consists of elderly parents, two brothers and a married sister. His parents also told TOI that their son was reading extensively about freedom fighter Bhagat Singh as he was inspired by his ideology.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police have begun an investigation into the Parliament security breach case and found that they got in touch with each other through social media and were connected by their mutual liking for freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

The five accused arrested in the December 13 Parliament security breach case have revealed that they explored self-immolation and distribution of pamphlets before settling on the plan to jump into the Lok Sabha’s chamber with smoke canisters, Delhi Police officials said on Saturday.

The Delhi Police’s Special Cell, which is investigating the case, also plans to record the statement of BJP MP Pratap Simha, who had authorised the visitor passes for the two men who breached security to enter the House.
