Mizoram Assembly Election Results Moved From Sunday To Monday; EC Received Several Requests

The Election Commission (EC) announced on Friday that the date of counting for the assembly election in Mizoram will be postponed from December 3 (Sunday) to December 4 (Monday).

The EC announced the change after it received several requests from various quarters for a change in the day of vote counting in Mizoram.

December 3 being a Sunday holds a special significance for the people of Mizoram, majority of which are Christians.

“The Commission, having considered these representations, has decided to revise the date of counting for the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Mizoram from 3rd December, 2023 (Sunday) to 4th December, 2023 (Monday),” the EC said in a statement.

The voting for the Mizoram legislative assembly took place on November 7, while the date of counting of votes is now December 4.

The Election Commission had earlier announced that the result of assembly elections in 5 states: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana will be announced on December 3.
