With just a two days left for the inauguration ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram temple, right-wing outfit Hindu Sena on Saturday defaced the signage for Babar Road in Central Delhi and demanded that it should be renamed as “Ayodhya Marg”. The photos and videos of the poster were widely shared on social media.

A poster with Ayodhya Marg written on it was pasted on the signage for Babar Road. The poster has now been removed by the officials.

Responding to the development, an official of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) informed that the council will file a police complaint against the culprits in the matter, reported news agency PTI.

Meanwhile, Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta asserted that the outfit has been demanding for a long time that the name Babar Road should be changed.

The “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony of the grand Ram temple is set to be inaugurated on January 22. Massive preparations are underway for the event where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest. Thousands of people, including saints, celebrities, and politicians, have also been invited for the much-awaited ceremony.

Notably, the central government has announced the closure of all government offices across the country for half a day. Several state governments, including Assam and Madhya Pradesh, have also declared a public holiday or a half-day in their respective states.
