Salman Khan and Arijit Singh finally worked together in Tiger 3. The singer sang the song, Leke Prabhu Ka Naam, for Salman and put an end to their nine-year-long feud. However, this is not the first time that Arijit had the opportunity to sing for Salman. Over the years, there were a couple of occasions when Arijit’s name was recommended for songs in Salman’s film but the actor refused to work with him. The reason: their fall out at an awards show in 2014.
For the unversed, Salman got upset with Arijit after the singer was found sleeping in the crowd at an awards show in 2014. Salman pulled him up for sleeping at the awards show. The singer tried to tease Salman by saying that he and Riteish Deshmukh put him to sleep with their hosting skills but the comemnt did not go down well. Salman also disapproved of Arijit wearing chappals and casual outfit at the awards. To make things worse, Salman noticed Arijit walking towards the exit and presumed that he was leaving soon after receiving his award. Arijit later revealed he attended the awards show in between work schedules and was tired.
While Arijit tried to apologise to Salman, it was going to vain. However, he was hoping that time would have healed their tiff but when Arijit was presented the opportunity to sing for Salman, the superstar refused. Speaking with IANS, Arijit revealed he was approached for Kick but Salman refused to make him a part of the album. It was then the singer realised that Salman was still upset with him.
“When I recorded a song for the Meet Brothers in Kick, they called me saying that Bhai doesn’t want to keep the song. I realized that he was still angry and started apologizing again and asked him whether I could meet him to apologize personally. I told him not to be angry and that I was just a newcomer,” Arijit said in an interview in 2016.
He also revealed that he was helping his mentor, music director Pritam on the music for Bhajrangi Bhaijaan and was being considered for a song as well. However, his fall out with Salman lost him the song as well. “I didn’t sing. I was helping Pritam da with the music. When a particular song was being considered for me, Bhai (Mr Khan) vetoed it. Pritam da told me that he won’t record any song with me because he might have had to remove my voice. I stopped working on the music of Bajrangi Bhaijaan with Pritam da. I again apologized to Salman Bhai. I thought time would heal the hurt. I hoped it would be fine in five or ten years. I left it at that,” Arijit said.
After years of feud, Arijit finally sang for Salman this year and fans are glad to see them put the past behind them and collaborate.
